The Umbrellaship
Art-Machine, 8'x8'x4', 2018, NFS
The Umbrella Ship is an interactive art-machine reminiscent childhood fantasy. Transitioning from bed to ship to bicycle, propelled by a large wind sail and rowable chuck-oars. A single passenger climbs in the bed-boat and is able to sail The Umbrella Ship across the land.
My objective as an artist is to fabricate worlds for my viewer to experience, empathize with and engage in. My work focuses on the impact materials and interactivity have on art and reflect on alternative associations with what is considered natural in an increasingly mediated society.
