Pop Tarts

Acrylics on Pop Tarts Box, 5" x 4" X 4", 2016

From my background in commercial art I love verbiage; my work often involves visual puns and 'Americana'. I had fun painting a box of Pop Tarts, focusing on pop stars (Brittany, Bieber, Psy/"Gangnam Style", Nicki Minaj) whose flamboyant personalities and "schtick" -often hyper sexualized- are as important as their music.

I'm a professional artist after a commercial art career.
6 paintings were purchased by WA ARTS COMMISSION, I've decorated 19 sculptures for various organizations, murals, exhibit in local & national galleries & museums.

I use various styles/media, but based on representational art steeped in classical training. Series are CANDYLAND, THE 12 STEPS (in longtime recovery & want to humanize addiction), RODENTS (puns: SPAMSTER, MICE-A-RONI) and mythological watercolours (SAINTS & SINNERS), & CORONA QUEENS, (combines Covid with historical monarchs)

Life is fun! Growing up Internationally (we lived abroad for 12 years : Switzerland, England, Denmark & Japan), I found laughter universal; often my art has humour which carries over to my other passion: Artcars. My studio, home & vehicles are featured in books, magazines, newspapers, television & radio shows.
