Shadow Puppet Memory
mixed, 14x11, 2025, $350
When I paint, I release myself to the creative process, recording mental states of flow. Playing with texture and layers of color that bifurcate and overlap, I create evocative psychological dreamscapes. My techniques mix drawing, painting and monoprinting to explore archetypes and atavistic themes. I am a painter and compelled to create and share my vision as a part of the human experience.
John Leahy studied art at Humboldt State University and received a bachelor's degree (1988) in fine art with an emphasis on Painting. He exhibited in Humboldt County and then moved to Seattle where he continued to paint and show art independently, and in juried shows including the Frye Art Museum and COCA in Seattle. After a decade in the art business of framing, he became a teacher. Since 2020 he has been exhibiting again locally in the Seattle area at COCA, Fogue, and A/NT Gallery.
