The Family
Acrylic, oil, wax on board, 48 x 72 x 2, 2024
There is a desire to capture the wide emotional range of the human condition and to hold it in its complexity. I believe in the ability of art to challenge oppressive structure-- the revelation of peeling back to reveal or reclaim what is underneath or to maintain what is hidden and to create something entirely new.

I presently achieve this mainly with acrylic paint and associated mediums. I manipulate materials with steel, cloth, knives, hard plastics, and my body -- rarely using traditional tools like paintbrushes.
