Lynn Schirmer is a Seattle artist and independent curator. As a twenty year resident of Pioneer Square, she has organized over a hundred exhibits and multidisciplinary arts events. For over 40 years, she has used art as a vehicle for public education, centering primarily on the issue of sexual violence. Schirmer is a survivor of both state and non-state torture, trafficking, and human experimentation. Her figurative works visually describe the process of dissociation, a psychological mechanism that aids in survival of overwhelming experiences.
