Chula Tupper
SPELLBOUND
Acrylic on wood, 24"x24", 2026
...overwhelmed with the unknown and want.
Chula's new work revolves around the nostalgic: stories that have already been told, fairy tales and love letters unwritten.
In 1992, Chula came to Seattle from San Diego. That year he was given his first show by CoCA's very own Ray C. Freeman III. Since then, he has been fortunate to have shown with the Friesen Galleries, Grand Image, Roq La Rue, and others, including solo shows and marathons with CoCA. During this time Chula worked as a tattooist under P.A. Stephens. He became partner in two shops; the last, Tiger Tiger Tattoo closed in 2017. After closing the shop Chula began to focus once again on painting.
