He Dances Drawing A Shade Over His Face
India Ink, Charcoal, and Pastel on Paper, 13 x15, 2019
My current mediums are charcoal and pastel on paper. I use family and friends for my drawings and paintings. I sometimes try to find out something of the inner life of this person. Most of the time I'm trying to put layers of play acting into an image that is interesting to look at. I want the finished work to be a singular style that is my own, but also allusive and poetic.
I'm a fine artist living in the Northwest. I have done commercial work for advertising, design firms, magazines, and stock agencies. I studied painting and drawing under Frank Dippolito at TCC. I later studied Fine Art at Washington State University. Expressionism, Surrealism, Pop, DADA, Modern Figurative, and Graphite Arts have all had a big influence on me. A few of my favorite artist are R.B. Kitaj, Peter Blake, and Alice Neel.
