The neoliberal capitalist system we live in can make individuals feel powerless to
effectuate real change in human rights, poverty and climate change. For change to
happen, we must work together. My goal with my works is to galvanize collective
community action by reawakening authentic human connection.

Alex Sandvoss is an artist from Vancouver, B.C.. Sandvoss received her BMus from McGill University in Montréal in jazz saxophone. While studying music, she began painting during her free time. Sandvoss moved back to B.C. and was inspired to amalgamate her painting skills with her connection to social issues. Alex has received international media attention for her painting and activism and has had paintings installed at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) since 2019.
