I investigate how data, mind and matter are organized, translated, preserved or degraded through the lens of trauma, eccentric genius, visual illusion and aircraft anatomy. I am interested in locating disparities between unequal things and solving these equations. I distill complex, yet seemingly mundane systems to their absolute rudiments and find new ways to rebuild them, such as breaking images down pixel by pixel or dissecting language letter by letter. This is followed by a careful reconstruction in ceramics or within a digital space.

Gina Grey is a Seattle-based artist who creates work using ceramics and digital media. She graduated with an MFA from the University of Washington and a BA from Columbia College Chicago. She exhibits internationally including shows in Chicago, Seattle, Australia, Hungary, Italy and Scotland. Her practice is shaped by participating in a range of professional artist residencies, including the Burren College of Art, Kala Art Institute, Women’s Studio Workshop and Oregon College of Art and Craft.
