Perverted Purpose
Porcelain, Wax, varies 3'x4'x5", 2025, $1500
There is absurdity in chains made of something as impractical as porcelain and wax. There is a lightness and humor about an object intended for binding to have completely lost its intended purpose. There is power in turning chain, a symbol of chastity, into something that longs to be touched.
In my practice, I explore themes of fragility, absurdity, queer identity, kink, raw materiality, and levity—primarily through ceramics. I am fascinated with making wearable pieces from materials typically associated with fragility.
I have an ongoing obsession with mixing and showcasing raw materials—porcelain, glass, and silver. Currently, I also work with textiles and envision my ultimate practice as one where all these materials coalesce into unified works, with clay as the main player.
